This is a classic paper crafting technique that pops up from time to time! In the video, I’ll be using a thick clear embossing powder, but you can accomplish the same look with regular, clear embossing powder – just add a few more layers as you go. This is such a fun and exciting technique that creates the most interesting cracked glass look. Often, it’s inked to give it a vintage look, but you can leave off that step for a more clean look. With the advent of embossing glazes, it’s also possible to get colored glass, opening a whole new world of possibilities!

steps to create faux cracked glass
- Apply Versamark over entire diecut or stamped panel.
- Coat in clear embossing powder and heat until melted.
- Allow the piece to cool to the touch and repeat the steps 2 to 3 more times to create a thick coat of embossing.
- Once all coats are melted, allow the panel to cool completely. It can even go in the freezer for a few minutes.
- Gently bend the cooled piece to create cracks in the embossing as desired.
- Optional – Add ink over the cracked panel to create an antiqued look.

What a great technique! I don’t have the ultra thick clear but think it would be worth adding the extra layers to get the cracked glass effect. Thanks for the real time video.
Wow, I have never seen that before. I must try this out.
