Altenew Whimsical Wonder Release

Welcome to the April Whimsical Wonder Stamp & Die release! I’m the first stop, but if you haven’t been to the Altenew Card Blog, you can stop by there to start at the beginning, or continue around until you loop back here.

whimsical wonder bundles

This month’s release is full of whimsy – from cute cats on moons to enchanted floating balloons and, of course some floral designs! Be sure to check out the fun new tote bag and the labels for the latest Artist Markers!

meadow bush & stripes

I loved mixing this unexpected color combination – Crimson, Fuchsia, Yellow Ochre, and Canyon Clay. The Canyon Clay comes from the stripe in the new A Love of Stripes Set D paper pack. The rest are in the Meadow Bush layering stencil set, which comes with two coordinating dies. The first die will cut out the entire shape. The second die cuts out select flowers, WITHOUT A BORDER! In this way, you can either layer them right over the diecut piece to create dimension, or you can add them separately like I did here.

folk art on poured paper

These next two projects employ the same technique – embossed vellum over patterned paper. I think the technique really makes the patterns in the Poured Acrylic 6×6 Paper Pack shine! This first one features the Folk Art stamp & die set.

bouquet of love on poured paper

Here I’m at it again with the embossed vellum technique on the Poured Acrylic 6×6 Paper Pack. This time with the Bouquet of Love stamp & die set. The key to adhering the vellum layer with little to no show-through on the vellum is tiny dots of Tombow, or your favorite liquid adhesive.

wonderful watercolor tie dye

For my last project, I thought I would have some fun faux watercoloring with the Tie Dye Motifs stamp set. It was pretty cool that I was able to get the odd color combo of Fuchsia, Yellow Ochre and Dew Drops to work in a watercolor application! But, you’ll hear more about that later this month…
