How To: One Layer Spotlight

We’ve all been there – a gorgeous, but huge, stamped image is staring back at you and it’s going to take foooorreeevvvveeerr to color! The solution is simpler than it seems. Let’s put a spotlight on this issue and create something gorgeous and unique that takes only a fraction of the time!

You don’t need much to achieve great results. In fact, you don’t need anything special! Of course, if you need to do some shopping, I always have supplies linked below and at the end of the post. • Large stamped image
• Shape die
• Pencil & eraser
• Coloring medium of your choice

steps to one layer spotlight

1. Stamp image(s) onto paper appropriate for your coloring medium.
2. Use a shaped die (any shape, any size) to create an outline, or multiple outlines on the image to create a single or multiple spotlights.
3. Using the selected coloring medium, color only within the shaped area(s).
4. Allow colored area(s) to dry and then use a soft, white eraser to remove any pencil marks.
