Altenew Fresh Start Release

Welcome to 2021! It really is time (maybe past time) for a fresh start, don’t you think? Then, let’s start off this new year with some new looks from Altenew! You should be arriving from Dana Joy’s blog. If not, you can track back to the Altenew Card Blog to start at the beginning, or continue around until you loop back here.

fresh start

The theme for this release is “fresh start”. It includes fresh, bold sentiments, a floral builder or two, new vases, coloring stencils, embossing folders… you get the picture – lots and LOTS of great stuff to make LOTS of beautiful things!

start at the very beginning…

For a fresh start, let’s start at the very beginning – with the letter A. I am seriously hoping we get through the whole alphabet because this set is just too much fun! All Things A has a gorgeous floral adorned jumbo A (with accompanying die) and sentiments that feature “A” words in inspiring phrases.

I paired it with the Ribbon Waves 3D Embossing Folder which is probably going to be my new obsession. It is truly mesmerizing, and the perfect (and super-quick) background texture for just about anything!

blocked & blended

I don’t know about you, but I have a goal to send out more “just because” and encouragement mail to my friends this year. That’s why I added Block Sentiments to my collection. It is full of beautifully worded and designed encouragement sentiments. I was able to line up a whole bunch of them and stamp and clear emboss them three times on Warm Sunshine cardstock. Then, I blended the edges with Caramel Toffee ink for an emboss resist look. Even the label sentiment came from this new set!

you can’t kill paper orchids

I LOVE orchids. I also have killed every orchid I’ve ever owned. It is a sad truth 🙁 Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately for orchids, our current home doesn’t have any good east or south-facing windows, for me to try again… LOLOL!!! I guess that means that I’ll just have to create these paper ones with the Spotted Orchid builder stamp set.

I paired the set with the twig diecut from Season’s Tweetings, and a sentiment from Block Sentiments!

more varied vases!

If you love the original Versatile Vases set, then you are going to love Versatile Vases 2 even more! They are bigger, bolder, and beautiful! I did some masking on this one to give it a solid vs. glass appearance. It pairs beautifully with the recent Just Leaves die set and has beautiful, heartfelt sentiments.

Thank You!

  3. You had me at the orchid and then I saw the silhouette foliage and vase in yellows and grays. Sigh. I see yellow and gray are the 2021 pantone combo colors . Well done.

  10. Love that yellow with the grey. I remember one of the first outfits I ever made myself was grey with yellow trim, hummm I think that was 70 years ago.
