How about some inspiration for the weekend?
It’s another Altenew Sketch Starter with Nicole. I really liked this duo! I took the sketch which indicates multiple layers, and turned it into some really stunning single-layer designs. I encourage you to give the sketch a try and share your results on social media (tag me @nicolewattcreates), or if you’re a class member here on NWC, upload a project to the comments below!

find the focal point
The big border and single large element is just screaming for a great focal point. A large floral, a scene, something big and bold. How about something more masculine and another more feminine?

floral is just fine
For the first take, I went for a large-ish floral. This is from the Pinkfresh + Altenew collaboration – the Celebrate Today stamp and die set. What makes the element even more bold is the black background. To create the element, I did some creative coloring with a Black Artist Marker and black cardstock. You’ll definitely want to check out the video as I’ve got some really great tips on the Fine Frames Cover Die, which, with all its individual pieces, can be a handful to keep together!

golden city
For the second take, I flipped the sketch a bit so I could accommodate a large city scene with the Cityscape Stencil and Antique Gold pigment ink on black cardstock. To soften it up a little bit, I used the Dotted Swirls debossing cover die. It’s just enough subtle pattern to keep things interesting.

The sketch idea are just zipping by! Another set of great ideas on how to complete the sketch. I like the tips shared in the video. Nice way to keep the frames lined up.
