‘Tis the Season for Weddings!
Are you a bridal couple looking to DIY your wedding invitations? If you’re not already crafty, the process can be more daunting than you anticipate. And, if you are crafty, it’s easy to bite off more than you can accomplish in the timeframe you have. I’m here to make it easy for you! Wedding invitations should reflect the couple’s style, and of course your chosen color palette. They should also be achievable, but elegant.

The easiest way to get started with custom invitations is to start with a good printable template. I found these gems at a site called Greetings Island (greetingsisland.com). There are some completely plain invitations (no graphics, just the fonts) that can be customized completely. You can change the fonts, font colors, the placement and size of the text box elements and even add and remove text boxes as needed to create an invitation to your desires. That’s how I started with the three samples. (Note that the couples and details are all fictitious.)

Lavender & Gray
The first, and simplest invitation features the Lavender and Gray trend. I just added some simple floral stamping using the Altenew Retro Plantines stamp set, and then backed the finished panel on some Lavender cardstock from Hero Arts.
Pantone Color of the Year: Classic Blue
The second design features the Pantone Color of the Year – Classic Blue. I printed the invitation in blue, on some 98 lb. mix media cardstock. That way, I could stamp the Exotic Garden stamp (Altenew) at the bottom and do some very simple watercoloring with some VersaColor, VersaMagic and Delicata inks.
Bright Fuchsia & Ice Blue
The last design combines three easy techniques for a beautiful result. I printed on mix media paper again so I could do the watercolor wash across the names. I used a stencil on the top and some quick ink blending on the bottom.
