AECP: Faux-clipse Thank You Card

Don’t you just love the eclipse technique? How about the faux-clipse?

The eclipse technique is super fun and not too difficult, but I created a riff on the technique, I’m calling a faux-clipse. It looks like the eclipse technique, but it’s not! The key is using patterned paper, or washi tape and laying the top layer exactly over the bottom layer. It’s not difficult – I promise!

Class #10: Easy Die Cutting

If you think that a die is just for cutting – you’re wrong! The Easy Die Cutting class introduces us to a variety of alternate ways to use your die collection across six lessons. If you’re ever feeling stuck with the dies you have, this class would help you to come up with some new ideas to breathe new life into your collection!

My Project

I decided to showcase a few ways to use dies in my project – proof that you don’t have to stamp something to make a card! There’s no ink in this one at all!

The Technique & Design

The center circle is a double die technique, where I used the halftone cover die to emboss the cardstock, then cut out a circle. Take note, sports fans — After doing the video, I realized that the circle looks like a golf ball! That would be great for a sports-themed card or scrapbook page.

As I shared at the top of today’s post, the sentiment isn’t actually the eclipse technique – it’s two separate layers of washi tape. Since the pattern repeats, it was pretty easy to match up the diecut sentiment with the background layer on the card base.
