embossing hot foil plates
So many crafters are on the fence with getting a Hot Foil system. If you already have a Spellbinders Platinum machine, or a Crafter’s Companion Gemini Jr., their hot foil systems (Glimmer Hot Foil for Spellbinders, and the FoilPress for the Gemini Jr.) are an add-on to the machine you already have. So, while the add-on foil machine may not be a massive investment, you have to consider adding in the hot foil plates and foils you’ll need to actually do the foiling! Hmmmm….
Well, if you’re considering the investment, did you know that you can just EMBOSS (actually DEBOSS) with your hot foil plates too? This can give a really subtle impression, OR it can be used to create a reverse effect by applying waxes over the debossed image like I did for this holiday card!
You can either use the Hot Foil platform sandwich with the plate, and just omit the foil, or use the embossing sandwich (with the rubber mat) with your regular diecutting machine. The regular embossing sandwich will give you a deeper impression.
Then, just add your Foundry Waxes with a brush, or your finger and heat-set!
