Faux Gel Press Friend Love Stamp – Live Stream Replay

Let’s continue on with our heart-featured projects! I like this faux gel press technique for quick backgrounds without pulling out all the supplies! curious about gel prints?

I recently shared a technique video that showed you how to use a silicone mat as a kind of gel press. I called it Faux Gel Press Printing. There are a few reasons why you might want to try this technique:

1. If you don’t have a gel press, but you have everything else and want to give the technique a try before investing in a gel press. (Not that they’re expensive, but they are “another thing” in the craft space…)
2. If you want to do something quick and don’t feel like pulling out your press.

I think the key to this technique is to keep it simple. It works for simple color pulls, but not so much for multi – layer prints where you layer different paints before pulling. Paint will dry quick, so be sure to put enough on your silicone mat to keep it from drying!
