Hop along with us as we participate in Kathy Racoosin’s 30-Day Coloring Challenge during this Watercolor Therapy Blog Hop. You should have arrived from Kelly Latevola’s blog. If not, you can track back to the Altenew Card Blog to start at the beginning, or continue around until you loop back here.

Watercolor on Kraft

Sometimes I’m into a watercolor look that’s quick & easy. Sometimes I want to go into more detail. For this project, I thought I’d go for both. Though pretty cool looking, the background was definitely quick & easy! I thought I’d tone down the brightness by watercoloring on a kraft color – Altenew’s Parchment cardstock. Even though it’s not a typical watercoloring paper, it does take water well without pilling up. Doing a quick treatment like this is a-ok, and can lead to some really unique looks!

Pairing geometrics and florals is one of my favorite looks. So, I thought the perfect pairing for the dramatic background from Geometric Landscape was a small bloom from New Beginnings in a contrasting color.

  1. I’m enjoying this water color hop and appreciate all of the hints. Water coloring on kraft is a great idea and would be great for masculine cards . . . father’s day? Combining the dark blue with black water color was very dramatic. Thanks for the ideas.

  19. This turned out to be beautiful! The geometric with the floral was a nice contrast. I thought the kraft paper, not being a watercolor paper would create more of a warping problem, but it didn’t. That is good to know. Thanks for the tips!
