hello, hydrangea!

This month’s Build-a-Flower is one I’ve been secretly hoping for! I just love hydrangea (even though I can’t seem to grow one!) and was sooo excited to see that this month’s set would be just what I was looking for! The fantastic sentiments were just a bonus!!

tall & skinny

I just love how easy this month’s Paint-a-Flower can be! It’s the kind of design that was just begging to be masked & stamped to create a bigger design. Because I stacked the stamp right on top of itself, I was able to create a beautiful tall & skinny design. This card measures 3 1/2″ x 7″ . The coloring took just a few minutes because it was so light and not too detailed. I wanted the stamp to do most of the “talking”. Of course, I had to add in some of those new Antique Gold sequins! (Haven’t seen those yet, check out last week’s release!)

three colorways to get you started

Hydrangeas come in so many different colors and color combos. They all stick to the blue/purple/pink/white spectrum… but with just those few colors, there’s so many results. I thought I’d share three to get you started. These are pretty quick too, so I know you’ll love to have these easy watercolors in your Crafter’s Toolbox!

  12. I have learned a lot about watercoloring on this blog hop. First.. there is no one way to watercolor. And for all of you doing it a bit differently from the others and yet, each card looking so beautiful..tells me that this stamp design is a winner. Can’t wait for mine to arrive. 17. I love your skinny and tall card! The stacking of this stamp did work out perfect. I’m sorry you can’t grow hydrangea where you are. Maybe plant a fir tree and then the hydrangea under it – they love the acidity of the evergreens. Thanks for sharing, and I wish you the best!
