It’s no secret that I love it when my craft supplies can be used in different ways to make them more versatile. You know, you get more more bang for the buck. Am I right? Reinkers are one of those necessary supplies that not only keeps your ink pads or markers in great working order, but can be used on their own in various ways on their own!
For my project, I thought I would show off one creative way to use the new reinkers with a beautiful background and the Anemone stamp embossed a few times on the finished panel. It’s a real stunning look that doesn’t take much to accomplish!

easy monochrome alcohol ink backgrounds
Artist Marker reinkers create the most beautiful backgrounds! You can use specialty paper, like Yupo, or you can just use Vellum! I’ll show you how I used vellum along with some of the new reinkers to create a few monochrome blended backgrounds.

Your card looks amazing!!
Thanks for sharing your suggestion of using the reinkers for making alcohol ink backgrounds. I’m going to try that on vellum.
Beautiful background! I love the colour and flowers. The vellum is such a nice touch! And I have a lot more vellum than Yupo paper. Thanks for your tips!
Gorgeous alcohol ink backgrounds! Thank you for the tutorial. I don’t know that I’d know when I’m done adding color, but you’ve inspired me to give it a try! Thanks so much for sharing your creative talent!
The great thing about this technique is that you can come back and add more color later! So, start off being a little reserved and let the panel dry completely. Before you add any adhesive or cut it or anything, just look at it on top of a white piece of cardstock. If you want to add more color, you can then keep adding more color, or spritz with alcohol, etc. to break up any large dark spots, or just get the colors to flow differently. Have fun with it, and remember it’s just paper!!
Love this new Paint a Flower set and what you have done with it!
wow – different than yupo but still awesome. And so much less expensive.
Beautiful colorful backgrounds. You’ve inspired me to dig out my alcohol inks again!

You might have just done what I thought was impossible — interest me in making alcohol ink backgrounds. I thought “too messy,” “too uncontrollable.” But after that video . . . .
Wonderful backgrounds, and on vellum. So beautiful! Great tip about the double sided sticky paper to flatten out the warping.

Thank you for the tutorial on the vellum using the re inkers. I am wondering what you used to stamp the anemone onto the vellum? Needless to say I have never tried this method.
Hi Kathryn –

So vibrant and pretty!! I love that you can use the reinkers to Create a stunning alcohol ink background
I love alcohol inking. Altenew’s reinkers will add so many more colors to choose from. Thanks for the inspiration.
Yes! I love that Altenew has reinkers! I’m sure you could mix and match them with other alcohol inks and reinkers that you have to create some amazing combinations!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! Love the look of both alcohol ink backgrounds for the vibrancy & watercolour backgrounds for the
softness. What’s great about them both is you never can tell just what you are going to get. I also love this anemone stamp set as they are such delicate flowers.
Love those gorgeous backgrounds & the new stamps look so beautiful against that pink!! Thanks for sharing how you made them!
Oh, the pink and white flowers are so delicate and beautiful.
Loved the way you used the stamp. Great job!!
Those alcohol inks are intriguing. Never have used them but I love the brilliance of the colors.
Vellum is such a beautiful accent, love it every time! This is a lovely card you created with these beautiful anemone Altenew flowers! Thanks for showing this technique, I’m still learning not to make mud. Be safe and stay crafty! ♥️
Aah – yes, trying to “not make mud”! I totally understand!! Less is more for sure! Just take your time and don’t get too much ink, or alcohol in the mix to keep colors from blending too much at once. Also, start off with colors that will work well together, like blues & greens, or blues & reds, or yellow & pink, or just stick to one color family until you get the hang of it. Then, you can get more adventurous!
Beautiful colors!
Stunning background! Card turned out beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Love the gorgeous rich colour in your background. Great video and lovely work.
Thanks for the taking the time to make the video – I so enjoy watching others create, an opportunity to learn something new! Also so helpful to see each of the colors at work & how wonderfully they blend – inspiring! And then to put it all together with your card – stunning!
Love this look you did amazing!
Beautiful card, love those anemones! Thanks for the awesome video tutorial with alcohol re-inkers technique, love the ombré color combos.
Thanks so much, Melissa! I hope you give the technique a try soon!
Your card is just beautiful!
Loved this technique. Like different options for vellum. Thanks for sharing.
Just beautiful. Nice quick way to make a pretty card, love the stamp and alcohol ink.
You did an impressive card using the vellum background you created using Altenew’s new Pain-A-Flower Anemone Stamp. Your videos are always enjoyable and I always go away learning at least one new think. I find your videos to be informative, presented in an easy to follow format, and paced so the viewer can even take notes – not easy to do. I have done inking on vellum to create a stained glass effect; but I have never seen this technique done on vellum. I am getting out some of my reinkers and Altenew flower stamps and craft away.
Altenew’s Anemone stamp is so beautiful; cannot wait to order it.
Thanks so much, Mary! I’m glad you find my videos helpful! I pride myself on doing the realtime narration so it’s like a little class that’s easy to follow! I’m glad it works for you, too! Thanks for stopping by 😀
Beautiful card with thee new alcohol inks.

Love your bold monochromatic look using the new alcohol ink refills. What a great idea! Thanks for the clear video explaining your process. I am totally lovin’ this newest PAF….watching my mailbox anxiously so I can play too!
Wow! I love that background! So glad I watched the video! I actually don’t think I’ve seen anyone ink on vellum and it looks awesome. Thanks for the tip on how to get the vellum to flatten out for use on a card! I have tons of vellum and don’t use it that often, but now I have another purpose for it!
Awesome design!
