Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Lily Release

Just when you thought Altenew couldn’t come up with another cool subscription, they’ve done it again! Introducing the Craft-A-Flower monthly subscription! To celebrate this new release, of course we have a blog hop + giveaway! You should be arriving from the amazing Ashlea Cornell’s blog. If not, you can track back to the Altenew Card Blog to start at the beginning, or continue around until you loop back here.

introducing Craft-a-Flower Lily

This month’s Craft-a-Flower is the classic Lily. Of course, since this is a die-only set, there aren’t any sentiments. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a word sentiment or two in the mix along the way with future releases. You’ll get all the separate die pieces you need to create a lovely single lily bloom, but as you’ll see, there’s a ton of creative ways you can use the dies for all sorts of different looks!

bundle or subscribe & save!

To celebrate the release, there is a special bundle with the die set plus two of the gradient cardstock packs at 5% off – perfect for creating beautiful blooms. OR, you can subscribe and guarantee that you’ll receive the new set each month, and get an almost 20% discount! ($29.99 instead of $35.99)

tall, skinny & straightforward

I created two projects for the hop, and for my YouTube Live later today. For the first one, I wanted to show you how the layering dies look “as intended”.

The Summer Afternoon Gradient Cardstock creates this beautiful result. Just add some black for the stamen. Of course, the Green Meadows Gradient Cardstock works perfect for the foliage and stem. Did you notice, there’s two stems? One faces left, the other right. That way you can tilt your flower either way.

challenge inspired

For my second look, I wanted to stretch the use on this die set by showing you a cool silhouette look. I was inspired by the current Inspiration Challenge over on the Altenew blog! Thanks, Amber for this fantastic color combo!

The look is easy enough to achieve. Just take the outline die and cut it out in multiple places. Then, use the cut out shapes with the detail die to get all of the exact detail pieces you’ll need. I used one of the pieces as a template to make sure I got the little pieces in just the right place.

I was live on Altenew’s YouTube channel where I shared both of these projects and a little more about the new subscription. Enjoy!

  12. I really like the first card and so appreciate the way you created the card so that the flowers are facing opposite directions. The silhouette card was a surprise. I never thought of going that route, but then, the most obvious is overlooked. I appreciate the video as I enjoy watching how people create. Thank you for sharing your talent.
