Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Dahlia Release

How would you like to add to your 3D floral die collection? It’s time for a new Craft-a-Flower die set, so we’re back with another blog hop & giveaway! You should be arriving from the Altenew Card Blog. If not, you can track back to start at the beginning, or continue around until you loop back here.

hello, dahlia

This month’s Craft-a-Flower is the classic Dahlia. I just love this flower! It comes in so many different colors, and I just love all the petals in each bloom! The dies create a 3″ bloom (so it will fit through your Mini Blossom machine), and the top-most dies work wonderfully on their own as beautiful outline shapes.

Of course, you can purchase the dies on their own, or you can get a bundle with the dies and two of the Gradient Cardstock packs. Or, be assured that you’ll get the set each month (before they sell out!) by subscribing  – and get a discount too!

go for the bold

This dahlia bloom is HUGE! Look at how it takes up all that lovely space! That means you don’t have to do much more to finish the design. I took the Diamond Builder stencil with the Sweet Dreams inks to create that lovely diamond strip. I also did a little trick with the dahlia itself. The left side of the layers are glued down, but on the right side, I used foam adhesive dots to add even more dimension and depth. It’s a really cool look as it adds extra shading in those recessed areas.

assembly twist

There’s only three layers to the bloom and leaves, but there’s a little trick you’ll want to watch out for. I put together a video to help you achieve success with this great die set!

  9. Gorgeous card! Your card is so stunning. I love the colors that you used. I just can’t get over how pretty your card is. I like the shapes you put in the background to add some more detail. I love this new release. I am going to have to add this one to my collection. I just received the lily set in the mail and it was awesome. I love the details of these flowers and how easy they are to make a flower without having to color. I am going to have to get some of that gradient cardstock too because the colors are so nice and will make it easier to match colors instead of trying to do it myself. Altenew is awesome and thinks of everything for us! Thank you for sharing your card with us! And thanks for doing these blogs, it really helps during the pandemic!
