If you don’t already love stencils, you will…
I am seriously in love with these cards and seriously addicted to how easy they are. Don’t be surprised if you see some variations pop up here sooner rather than later. The bonus? I didn’t have to buy anything new! I love a serious multitasking craft tool, and I think stencils have topped the list!

Class #4: Stenciled – Multiple Ways
Anyway, in each lesson, Laurel shares different ways that you can use stencils. She has an outside-the-box approach that will have you flipping and turning your stencils, wondering how you can use them differently than originally intended! I also love that she shares her oops moments along the way and how she fixes them to come up with a successful card. Hey – we’re not perfect crafters!
My Project
I didn’t think this would take the monochrome white twist that it did, but once I saw my embossed result, I couldn’t hide this beautiful panel behind anything else!

The Technique & Design
This technique is super simple and yet another way that you can use stencils! I love that this already versatile tool just got another use.
Like I said, I just couldn’t cover up those patterned panels and thought that a dramatic white with a simple sentiment would be the most amazing look. So, there they are – no spatter, no ink, no graphite shadows, no metallic thread swirls. Just something that you will want to run your fingers over, over and over again!

Hi Ingrid! Great to see you here again 😀 I hope you have great results wit the technique!!
That is a great stencil. I have never opened my embossing paste nor used my stencils. Why do I do that?
I hear ya, Karen! I’m determined not to place an order of any kind this month – so I have to USE what I HAVE!
Great use of stencils. I’m going to try this. Thanks!
I’d love to see your results! Snap a pic and share it on my Facebook page!
What a great idea Nicole! Who knew that stencils could be used to emboss. LOVE it!
Hi Ginger! Thanks for stopping by! I’m sure you could do this same thing with any Stampin’ Up! stencils or embossing masks you have!
Nicole-
I have been trying to purchase a 2019-2020 color coordinator but have been having trouble getting on the site. It keeps telling me that I have exceeded the allowed number of sign ins, or it flashes a warning screen at me..
How can I access the site or is there another way to make this purchase?
Pamela – I sent you an email yesterday regarding your problem. Please see that note for details. Check your spam folder in case you don’t see it in your inbox
I love embossing with stencils. It always looks gorgeous. I love your CAS cards, they look truly elegant.
Thank your or entering your beautiful work to the AECP gallery.
White on white designs are always a WIN! I love the simplicity of these cards with the stencils and embossing paste! Thanks so much for entering your beautiful work in Altenew AECP assignment Gallery. Beautiful colors and design. Well done!
Wait….your stencil card looks so raised and beautiful that I thought you used embossing paste. After reading the post once more and watching the video, I realized it is embossed! 🙂 Bravo!
Ha! I tricked you, Virginia! Not using embossing paste made this project come together super fast! I found that the right amount of shimming, combined with the right paper can yield a fairly deep impression. Thanks for all the great comments!
look forward to more!
Simply elegant. I have not embossed with stencils before. I do not have hot press watercolor paper. Would the cold press or letterpress paper work?
Just saw you listed letterpress paper in the supply list so that answers that question.
lol – yup! I also found another source for letterpress type paper that comes recommended by a printing company – it’s actually Neenah cotton paper. More to come on that after I get my hands on some…
Cold press would work ok as long as it had a good thickness. You might want to mist ot.with water to help the fibers compress better. Letterpress paper is a PERFECT medium to use for this technique!
