Fashion trends are a huge source of inspiration for the craft world. You’ll see similar color combinations, textures and patterns pop up in stamp sets, stencils, tools, dies, etc. as the seasons change and as trends come and go. Color is always one of the most similar elements you’ll see between the two. For this project, I thought I’d grab a fashion inspiration pic from Pinterest and turn it into a card!

the inspiration
I searched for Fall Fashion Trends 2019 and scrolled through the endless results. It wasn’t long before I found this image from Tieks shoes:

I love how the colors flow between the bright greens and yellows into warm browns and reds. I wanted to take those strips of color and turn them into stripes on a card using watercolor. I knew that it probably meant exploring blending colors together to get just the right shades, but I was up for the challenge.

the inspired project
I didn’t use every color from the inspiration, but pulled in what I thought would look good and would fit on a standard A2 card front. I just love how it turned out!

Color matching watercolors to an inspiration photo is not for the faint of heart. I promise to do a video on how I made it happen and additional helpful tips. If it’s not something that sounds like fun to you, there’s always alternates! Just use the colors you have and create your own striped combo! Pick any number of fall-ish colors and you’ll end up with a project that’s just as great!
