Using household supplies in the craft room is nothing new. But, it’s still something that many crafters don’t think about! Stenciling and masking with bleach is not only a cool way to create unique looks, but it also borders on a science project, guessing what color will be revealed when your paper is sprayed!

You don’t need much to achieve great results. In fact, you don’t need anything special! Of course, if you need to do some shopping, I always have supplies linked below and at the end of the post. - Colored Cardstock
- Bleach (regular or low-splash)
- Stencils, Masks & Diecuts
- Empty Mister Bottle
- Pipette
- Heat Tool (optional)
- Splat Box (optional)

steps to stencil or mask with bleach
- Sample scraps of colored cardstock to determine how bleach will react
- Fill empty mister bottle with bleach. Be sure to label container and only use it with bleach going forward.
- Protect work surface from bleach overspray. Use a Splat Box or other spray box.
- Place stencil, mask or diecuts over cardstock panel and spray.
- Use heat tool to speed up drying.
- Add additional layers of bleach to continue lightening areas as desired.
- Clean supplies with soap & water.
