I know you’ve done it. You pull out a stencil, and wonder “can I use this for embossing?”. Then, you put it away, because you have no idea where to start. Well, wonder no more, we’re doing it today!

supplies for dry embossing with stencils
You don’t need much to achieve great results. In fact, you don’t need anything special! Of course, if you need to do some shopping, I always have supplies linked below and at the end of the post. But, before you shop, be sure to check out my Crafty Sales page for any deals you can take advantage of at your favorite crafting haunts.
- Cardstock, Letterpress Card or Watercolor Card
- Water Spray Bottle
- Diecutting Machine
- Paper or other shims for extra pressure in machine
steps to dry emboss with stencils
- Lightly spray the cardstock or watercolor paper with a mist of water on both sides.
- Create the same plate and shim sandwich you would as if you were diecutting, except place the stencil over the cardstock instead of a die.
- Add an extra shim if desired/necessary.
- Run the sandwich through the diecutting machine.
