True or False: You need a rainbow of ink to make a rainbow…
Well, if you read the title of this post, I hope you figured out that you don’t need a rainbow of ink. You only need three. The only requirement is that the inks blend well. Because of that, I recommend Distress Oxides! They’re a creamy pigment and die blend that just loves to blend together and plays well with water for additional technique possibilities.
My inspiration came from the newest Festive Friday challenge that gets us thinking about Spring and Summer with rainbows as an option, and the featured festivity of Earth Day (April 21st).

Looking for ideas – here’s a few:
- Earth Day is typically partnered with the idea of recycling. You could use some scraps you have from previous projects, or look to unusual materials as elements – like pop cans, recycled paper or plastic, etc.
- Rainbows are a super fun element – this is another super flexible option that you can take literally, or abstractly. Add a simple rainbow to your design, or just go for a rainbow of colors in your cardstock or ink choices.
- CASE one of the DT projects and add your own twist to our designs. Of course, if you blog about it, we would love for you to mention the Designer as your inspiration for your project. Here’s links to all of the Designers:

I absolutely love this Nicole! You have inspired me to use my stencils more, too. How awesome that you did this with only 3 inks and that sentiment is one that any friend would love to receive. So happy to be on the FF team with you! Hugs!
Very clever way to get a rainbow with 3 colors. I will keep this in mind as I am just starting buy distress oxide inks.
What a fabulous card, Nicole! Your post was a great reminder of how to create colors. Great job!
