Who doesn’t love some ink blending?
There are so many ways to get beautiful blends in various projects, but you might not know about all the great inks you can use to get blends! As an Artist in Residence for Imagine Crafts, I was recently turned on to the VersaColor line of inks! There’s 80+ colors that are all amazingly blendable!

Bold, creamy blends!
I know many of you are familiar with ink blending using oxide style inks. Well, they’re not the only game in town! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love oxides, but sometimes I want super bold colors that don’t have a chalky finish!
Enter, VersaColor. These are water-based pigment inks that blend ah-mazing-ly! The bonus is that they maintain their bright finish, leaving you with bold blends like my project today!

I used the Flowing Drops stencil from Altenew and just one of those tiny finger daubers to complete this blend. Can you believe it? The Pink and Neptune (purple) colors blended like nobody’s business and I was left with this beautiful, crisp background.
I added in a little sentiment using the Scrapbook.com XOXO stamp set and some MBoss gold embossing powder. Then for an unexpected twist, I filled in the whole heart using some On-Point glue and set it aside to dry to it’s crystal clear, shiny finish! One thing to point out is that even though that water-based glue went over the blended background, it didn’t bleed, fade or smear. Once it’s dry on your cardstock, it’s not moving!

Where can I get VersaColor?
I’m not sure why, but there aren’t many online retailers that carry the VersaColor line. Though, I do know you can find it in-store at JoAnn’s, Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. Now that Colorbox is no longer available, I’m hoping to see this ink in more online stores!
If you prefer to shop online, you can get the entire line from Imagine Crafts! They are the exclusive distributor of Tsukinkeo inks in the United States. So, if you have a local or online shop that you’d like to recommend these inks to, have them contact Imagine Crafts for wholesale details!

Marvelous background and love the technique on the heart sentiment. Gorgeous card and so creative and inspiring. Like that you didn’t use the Valentine colors because they aren’t as soft as your color palette and it also gives more versatility to use of the card. Appreciate your videos and how inspiring you are throughout. Blessings to you and your family
Very pretty with the ink blending. What do you do with the contaminated ink daubers–do you wash them? I have versacolor ink pads but not that brand of glue–do you think any clear drying glue would work?
Yes – you can wash the ink daubers! As for an alternate glue, it should dry clear and not sticky. You could also apply embossing ink with a dauber and put clear embossing over the whole thing. Or, you can use another liquid like Ranger Multi Medium. Great questions!
You’re right about the surprise to the blending. It didn’t look like much was going on and then the reveal. I like the additional touch on the heart. When I shop through the links, do I need to click on each item, or will once to each shop work?
thanks for stopping by! As for the links, if you’re simply trying to activate the affiliate link, once on each store is plenty. Otherwise, click on each item you’re interested in and you will be directed to the individual product listing at that store.
Pretty color combo! Love the gold heart!
Great! what a fabulous blending work. i must have to learn blending techniques from your videos. Thanks for sharing.
