blooming with love

This month’s release is called Blooming With Love, and it’s definitely full of blooms! Plus there are two extra special bonus products that I know you’re going to love – Metallic Thread AND Blending Brushes!

2-step bloom

I thought I’d start with a focus on the blending brush and the new Calming Reverie bloom. The stamp is HUGE and will help you create a statement card in no time. It’s only two layers – the background color, and the dotted detail layer – so easy!

TIP: Adding Obsidian Black as the detail layer will really tone down any vibrant color you choose.

Though the Calming Reverie set comes with a simple “hello” sentiment, try pairing it with the new Say It With Love stamp set instead. Those sentiments aren’t just for the inside…

Finally, the new Large Blending Tool will blend your Crisp Ink colors flawlessly! I was able to create the soft blue glow (Ultramarine) in no time.

blush, bergenia & gold

The Bergenia Builder stamp set is ridiculously fun to play with! Not only is there the main stem with multiple blooms, but there’s also individual blooms and leaves to make your arrangement more lush! The individual blooms match up with blooms in the main stem, so you can place them on top to add extra dimension without having to stamp the larger image and fussy cut. Genius! They look just lovely on their own, too!

I chose to color with some Artist Markers, leaving the ends white, and blending back in with the Colorless Blender to create a white/pink bloom.

For the background, I blended in a coordinating Coral Berry spotlight, and then added lengths of the Antique Gold metallic thread. In the angled picture below, you’ll see how the florals are layered for extra dimension.

escape to paradise

The Bird of Paradise set is a builder flower plus sentiments, but I opted to focus just on the outline images. I love that there are two stems that go opposite directions. That really helps to create a more organic look.

watercolored the stems in a dotty style, and then got stuck with next steps. I didn’t want to add much more, but the background couldn’t be just white. I could have gone for another blended spotlight, but why not show off the versatility of this set by creating a background with just the outline images. To soften up the look, I used a piece of Navy cardstock instead of black. I think it helps bring out the little bits of purple in the flowers.

I wanted to add some more of the beautiful Metallic Thread, so I created a multi-loop tiny bow. Looks magical, right? I’ve got a video below that will show you how easy it is to make that cutie!

For my last card, I used the Amazing Things set, and stuck to just the outline again. This time, heat embossing in white. The stamp is medium in size, so it can be stamped multiple times to create a patterned background.

I really love the sentiments in this set – bonus for the great swirly font! To really highlight the sentiment, I embossed it on another piece of Navy, and then popped it up. Adding the Enchanted Gold Metallic thread in loose swirls helps to separate the two layers and really adds another level of sophistication to the design.

Do thread swirls get you down? Check out today’s video for tips on how I do it!

A delicate thread detail looks so stunning, but I know that it can also be difficult to use! I put together this video to show you three easy ways to get started with using the thread successfully. Yes – even YOU can make one of those adorable mini multi-loop bows!

  11. Such wonderful tutorial tips for us today Love all the twine creations. I am always all thumbs using that slippery twine, but I am going to try your bow idea and see how it goes for me. I love the messy look of the twine behind an element. Thanks for sharing in such detail!

    • Hi! This is my first time visiting your blog. I am so thrilled that I did! Your cards were stunning! Each one looked so different from another. The Calming Reverie card is my favorite! It is splendid! I love the colors and the layers look 3D. ❤ the blue bg! Gorgeous!

The card with the smaller flowers, that was do much fun to use is my favorite image in this release! The Bergernia Builder image can look different just by changing the bg or flower colors.

Your Bird of Feather piece looked amazing! I loved how the flowers in the bg were black and white, calm, if you will. And then, a burst of bold color and life!

I really enjiyed seeing the different layouts, techniques you used, and especially the gorgeous Altnew images!

  30. I love all the different ways you used flowers. Sometimes I get really locked into needing to do only coloring, or only the stamp layering and forget the simple beauty of an outline. Also, the stippled flower is a stunner, especially with the bright colors you chose. Thanks for all the ideas!
