lots of pink

Of course, you can create these lovely layering blooms using the Altenew Gradient cardstock (I’ll use that in my video), but you can also create beautiful variegated designs by cutting up a watercolor panel! I used the Tropical Fiesta watercolor brush markers to make a wash with lights and darks on some watercolor cardstock, then I took the panel to the dies and cut it up. These blooms were so beautiful that the project didn’t need much other than a soft background glow (with the new Altenew Blending Tool) and some more dies (Tall Alpha) for a simple sentiment.

layering the tulip dies

You might take a look at the die set and think “wow, that looks tough!”, well, I thought I’d do a video to show you how easy it is to put the pieces together. Each flower is only THREE layers, and the leaves are only TWO! You can do it! (and you’ll love the oohs and aahs you get when someone gets your card!)

  4. You are right that’s definitely lots of pink. Such a classic color for tulips. I love the softness of your background makes for a clean and simple easy looking card so much you can do with that.

  5. You are right Nicole, just a soft wash in the background is all you need. I love the idea of using watercolours to create the tulips from as I don’t actually have three shades of a colour family in my paper stock. This is soft & so appealing. Thanks for the video showing the papers.

  8. I love the shades of pink you’ve used in this card. Arranging them on a card base that is also blended with pink is such an unexpected choice, but it makes the flowers almost seem to glow! So beautiful!

  12. Gorgeous. Amazing way to craft making gorgeous projects using what you have. I have to see something to know if it’s ok so for me it’s easier to start with white and use markers etc to change the layers rather than cutting a BUNCH of different pieces to try it out. It’s hard for me to chose colors etc. You done an amazing job.

  15. Your videos are so well done. Thanks for the tip about putting dies on the layout. Seems so obvious now; but didn’t think of it until you said it in your video. Glad I bought the new blending brush, as I love the soft results. Great job as usual and look forward to your next video.
