Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are approaching and this can be a difficult time for seniors who are in nursing homes or shelters. We want these important people to feel loved, celebrated, and honored — and that’s where the annual Card Drive comes in!

Maybe you have a little bit of extra time in the next few weeks to create a few Mother’s or Father’s Day cards to send in for the drive. It doesn’t take much! If you need some supplies, Altenew is donating 20% of the proceeds from the following products to the Food Bank of Central New York to support seniors in need. For details on the drive, click here.

Mix & Match

For my inspiration project, I thought I’d go for something a little different by mixing and matching a few products together. I’d been looking for a reason to use the Misty Meadows washi tape from my stash, and I wanted to see how I could pair it with a new favorite – Wild Flora. I wanted to pull the gold from the washi all the way through, so I recycled the watercolor embossing technique I used back in January, and then I went for more gold with the Mega Love die. There’s certainly a lot going on, but it works!

Love Altenew? Check out all of my projects that feature this amazing company!

  1. Nicole, I believe you have convinced me to try the wide washi tape, it is so beautiful with the gold. And I LOVE the embossing with water technique, have not seen that before. Thanks for sharing

  2. Nicole this color combination is EVERYTHING! I think the oversized washi tapes are great if you need a card in a pinch. TFS

  3. Lovely card Nicole. The embossing pairs perfectly with the washi tape background and bold word. Thank you for the inspiration and for another Crafter’s Tool box video. Love the cause! I hope AN receives plenty of cards to share with Seniors!

  4. Quoting Mr. Colton “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.” And I hope you don’t mind but I am getting the stamp & ink and making your design! I also really enjoyed your video that was not only very informative but well organized and easy to understand/follow!!!

  5. The washi is beautiful. I love the size of your sentiments, it is a good reminder than some older people need large writing on their cards!

  6. Loving that washi tape! It makes a fantastic background. I never knew you could emboss with water. Does that only work with pigment ink? Your card is lovely.
